Our Vision

Inquiry empowers students to explore the world with curiosity, think critically and develop a deeper understanding of themselves, others and the world around them. Through purposeful investigation, questioning and authentic learning experiences, students build the knowledge, skills and dispositions to make meaningful connections, solve real-world problems and contribute positively to their communities. We are committed to nurturing confident, capable and curious learners who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to flourish at school, embrace lifelong learning and become active, informed citizens and responsible stewards of God's creation.

Our Inquiry program is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and integrates learning across the Humanities, Science and the Capabilities. Teachers design engaging, knowledge-rich learning experiences that build curiosity while ensuring students develop deep conceptual understanding through carefully sequenced teaching.

How We Teach

Inquiry learning combines explicit teaching with opportunities for students to investigate, question, explore and apply their learning in authentic contexts. Teachers carefully introduce new knowledge and concepts before guiding students to deepen their understanding through discussion, investigation, collaboration and reflection.

Units of learning are built around rich concepts and essential questions that encourage students to think deeply, make connections and investigate significant ideas. Students explore the world through the disciplines of:

Learning is carefully sequenced from Prep to Year 6, enabling students to progressively build knowledge, deepen understanding and strengthen transferable skills. Rich fiction and non-fiction texts are integrated throughout units of learning to extend background knowledge, strengthen literacy and encourage thoughtful discussion.

Teachers use ongoing assessment, questioning and responsive teaching to ensure learning experiences appropriately support, challenge and extend every learner.

Our Approach is Informed by Research

Our Inquiry program reflects contemporary research demonstrating that deep understanding develops when strong knowledge foundations are combined with opportunities for curiosity, investigation and authentic application. Students learn most effectively when new knowledge is explicitly taught, carefully sequenced and connected across learning areas.

By integrating the Humanities, Science and the Capabilities, students are encouraged to think critically, solve problems creatively, collaborate effectively and make informed decisions. This evidence-informed approach develops confident learners who can apply their knowledge to new situations, understand the complex world in which they live and recognise their responsibility to contribute to the common good.

Learning in Action

Students experience Inquiry through engaging, purposeful learning that develops curiosity, critical thinking and deep understanding. Learning may include:
