Our School

Welcome to Lumen Christi Catholic Primary, Point Cook. You are part of a very special group of families, who along with the staff and parish community of Point Cook belong to Holy Trinity Catholic Parish . 2023 sees the 24th year of operation for our school community. We are confident that our school community is developing as an inviting, friendly, caring environment where Gospel values are very obvious.

Whilst most of our students are born in Australia, many of their parents were born overseas in countries where a language other than English is spoken. This cultural diversity provides us with the opportunities to discover more about other cultures and their traditions and how they form an Australian identity and linguistic heritage that we can be proud of.

Founded in 2000, Lumen Christi is a faith centred learning community, committed to working in partnership with its families, parish and local community to nurture our students’ faith and lead them to value, recognise and celebrate their relationship with God through prayer and liturgy, their growing knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures and Catholic Tradition, and their action in the world by living in right relationship with the whole of God’s creation, and with our environment. We are committed to our school motto ‘Let Your Light Shine’ by supporting each student’s spiritual, academic, and social emotional development in reaching their potential.

We are proudly building our strong links between the School, Parish and wider community at Lumen Christi.  We pride ourselves on building relationships and maintaining a strong sense of community.

Lumen Christi encourages opportunities for parent and community involvement in school life by offering a great range of extra curricula activities, fundraising, religious and social events.  These events include: Family Picnics, Whole school and Class Liturgies, School Sports Days, Walk-a-Thon, Grandparents Day, Working Bees, Assemblies, Children's Disco, Fete, Book Fair's just to name a few.

Lumen Christi is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS). MACS governs and operates 292 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them. Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders. This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater collaboration between schools and ensure greater consistency in school policies and procedures.
